About Me

Hilary LexWelcome to AbundanceOfWellness.com!  I live in Sydney, Australia, and am married with 2 gorgeous children.  I am passionate about holistic, integrated health and wellness, and whole food nutrition. I believe that rather than treating the symptoms of illness, we need to listen to what our bodies are telling us; as a symptom is just an alarm bell to tell us that some aspect of our self and our life is out of balance.  Not only do we have the power to tune into our lives to see what is not in balance, but we can also help achieve optimal health by being conscious of what we eat.  The more we begin to realize that it is possible to play an active role in living a life of total wellness, the more empowered and abundant we become!

As a teenager, I was diagnosed with hypertension, and put on medication.  I was pretty much told that I would be on medication for the rest of my life.  Certainly, this was not something a 17 year old wants to hear!  This started me on my journey of looking for alternative ways to live a life of wellness.  I began to read about the benefits of Yoga and Meditation, and as a result, introduced both practices into my life.  I also started to read about the important role that nutrition plays in relation to health.

At university, I studied Psychology, fueling my interest in understanding human behavior.  I was still hungry for knowledge, and continued to search for alternative ways to understand wellness.  Why do people get certain illnesses – is it just potluck who gets sick, or is it possible that, if one looks a little deeper, one can begin to understand why individuals present with certain symptoms? Is there an underlying cause that needs to be addressed, that led to the condition in the first place?  Believe me, I have had my fair share of health issues along the way – but then, what better way to help me understand dis-ease (a body not at ease), than to look at what’s going on within!

On my life’s journey so far, I have been fortunate enough to study and/or gain some insight into some fabulous modalities.  They include:

Along the way, I have met some amazing people, from whom I am grateful to have learnt, and continue to learn so much. Back in the late 90’s, I was fortunate enough to meet Louise Hay.  Her book, You Can Heal Your Life has had a significant positive impact on my life.

In 2008, I was introduced to Theta Healing. Theta Healing involves identifying limiting beliefs, and releasing them through reprogramming the subconscious mind. I am currently certified as a Theta Healing Practitioner having completed the Basic, Advanced, Intuitive Anatomy, DNA 3, World Relations, and Rainbow Children courses.  I am extremely grateful to Vianna Stibal, the founder of Theta Healing, and Mark Anthony, here in Sydney for all that I have learnt and continue to learn through studying this modality.

Another amazing person who has had a significant impact on my life is Don Tolman.  Don is affectionately nicknamed ‘the Indiana Jones of Whole Foods’.  He focuses on the importance of ‘self-care’, and teaches people that it is possible to live a life free from disease by following his ‘7 Principles of Health’. These principles are: Air, Water, Sunshine, Whole foods, Non-toxic Relationships, Walking, and Passion.  I am currently studying to become an ‘Advisor and Practitioner of Whole Foods as Medicine’ through the Tolman Academy.

Through my blog, my goal is to share with you my own experiences and learning in regards to holistic health, wellness and nutrition.  I believe that we all have the right to make informed decisions with regards to ours, and our family’s, health and well-being, and that the way to do this is by becoming informed of the choices that are available to us.  I encourage your feedback on topics addressed, and hope that by opening them up for discussion, others will share their own experiences, from which we may all benefit and learn.

Thank you for visiting my site.  Live an Abundance of Wellness Life, empower yourself….because you’re worth it!

Hilary :)
