Boosting Your Immune System, Naturally
Christmas, a couple of years ago, Santa very kindly delivered a trampoline for my children from their grandparents, who live on the other side of the world (he certainly earned his glass of port that night!). Imagine their delight when they woke on Christmas morning to find a trampoline in the garden.
Trampolining is loads of fun, and not just for kids. Anyone, at any age can enjoy it. In addition to the barrels of fun you can have, trampolining is also a great way of boosting your immune system. It is a simple, natural and inexpensive way to get fit and stay healthy.
Trampolining, as a means of strengthening your immune system and keeping fit, is often referred to as rebounding. Basically, it’s the same thing, however usually rebounders are much smaller, and are designed specifically for exercising.
How Can Trampolining Help To Boost Your Immune System?
Some of the ways that trampolining or rebounding can help with boosting your immune system, as well as improving your level of fitness include:
• Strengthening the cardiovascular system
• Increasing your metabolic rate, which can therefore assist in weight loss
• Speeding up the elimination process (great alternative to laxatives!)
• Improving bone density
• Helping to circulate lymph around the body
• Assisting in detoxifying the body
• Assisting in lowering cholesterol
• Low impact exercise, and therefore gentle on the joints
• Assisting in slowing down the aging process
• Great form of aerobic exercise
• Can help to boost energy levels
• Mood enhancer, due to the release of endorphins
• Improving muscle tone
• Improving motor skills and coordination
The Role Our Lymphatic System Plays In Boosting Our Immune System
Our lymphatic system is responsible for getting rid of toxins that build up in our body. In our daily lives, our bodies are constantly coming into contact with toxins. For example, through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the substances we come into contact with in our environment. Unlike the heart, the lymphatic system does not have a pump, and relies on us to aid the process of getting rid of these toxins. This is achieved through movement. If our bodies become overloaded, our lymphatic system can be put under a lot pressure, and may not be able to remove the toxins from our system faster than they are entering. This can in turn weaken our immune system. This is where trampolining comes in. It is a excellent way to get the lymph moving, which in turn will help to improve the functioning of the immune system.
Trampolining, The Great Natural Way To Strengthen Your Immune System
As you can see, the list of benefits of trampolining or rebounding is huge. It really is one of the easiest ways of boosting your immune system. Quite simply, it is one of the most effective methods of exercising the whole body. It also doesn’t matter how young or old you are, or how fit or unfit you are. And guess what, you may even have fun in the process. So why not give it a go?

Hi Hilary,
I didn’t realise that some simple trampolining could improve your immune system so much! I will get on the tramp and play with the kids and have some fun knowing it will be great for me!
Great Post. So this now means every time I am on a trampoline or I see kids on one and we are grinning from ear to ear, not only are we having the time of our lives but we are also boosting our immune systems. What a win win. I had no idea of all these benefits other than fun. Thank you.

Hi Hilary,
I had no idea that all those years of jumping on the Trampoline at home, I was helping my immune systems. Maybe that’s why I’m rarely sick??
Who said Trampolines are only for kids.

I never thought that trampoline could help boosting the immune system. I knew that it’s a great way to support our lymph system therefore to detox naturally, but I never quite made the connection with the immune system. Great post!

Thanks for your feedback Veronica. It’s a fun and easy way to boost your immune system.
Hi Hilary! Little did I know the benefits of jumping in the tramp with my boys. I will definately do it more often now that you have educated me! Sally
The boys will love it Sally.
Wow that’s great! I never knew that jumping on a trampoline could be so beneficial. Next time I visit my little cousins house I won’t think twice about teaching him to do a backflip on his trampoline
Go for it Sean. A simple way to keep fit and have fun at the same time.
I really miss my trampoline! It was a great place to play as a child and was just sooo much fun! My father-in-law has a trampoline which my kids just LOVE to go and play on – they spend our WHOLE visit just jumping and jumping – very jealous!

Hi Jayne. The great thing about trampolining is that we can do it at any age. Perhaps you can join your kids next time

Hi Hilary,
Thanks for another interesting post.
I’d heard that bouncing on a trampoline was good for you, but never really understood why. We had a big trampoline when the boys were younger – we only just recently put it on the clean up pile as it was looking a bit sad and dangerous around the edges – and hadn’t been used for years! Maybe a nice small one would be good just for me

Hi Jan. I’m sure the trampoline was well loved and gave you hours of fun.
Perhaps you could now invest in a rebounder? They don’t take up much room.
Hi Hilary,
I’m particularly interested in boosting the immune system naturally. One of my daughters is recovering really slowly from a double dose of Ross River Fever and mononucleosis. It’s a huge haul for her. Any topic at all that concerns the immune system is one that I steer her towards. When we have an abundance of wellness, it is sometimes easy to forget what it’s like without it.
Hi Jo. My heart goes out to you and your daughter. As you say, the more she can do to boost her immune system the better.
I’m planning on doing a post on immune boosting foods – stay tuned.
Thanks for all of these great tips about boosting your immune system in a natural way. I never thought that there could be a fun way to boosting the immune system by using a rebounder or by trampolining. I used to have a rebounder, I used it so much I wore it out (and was happy with my fitness level at the time). I can’t think of a reason why I haven’t replaced it!?! Maybe it’s time to go shopping!
Thanks Hilary
